| Real-time messaging, automated stop announcements, and Automatic Vehicle Location help Hamilton Street Railway provide better, more accessible service
CALGARY, AB — July 22, 2010
Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) of Hamilton, Ontario, has implemented an ITS solution from Mentor Engineering for their 217-vehicle fleet. An outdated radio/AVL system reduced the communication efficiency between HSR's drivers and dispatchers. Additionally, the Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has ruled transit agencies must announce every bus stop for every route. In response to these issues, HSR chose a Mentor ITS solution to track vehicles, automate stop announcements, improve communication, and optimize their service.
