Get a Career, Not a Job

Mentor wants to invest in your future, not just your 9-5. At Mentor, we put a premium on attracting and retaining the brightest talent out there. New grads are often recruited straight from university and shaped as future project managers, lead developers, and engineering savants.
Since Mentor is not a monster-sized company, your talent has room to shine. You can work in areas that interest you and take on responsibilities right away. Mentor's employees manage million-dollar projects. We reward innovation with advancement opportunities and prefer to promote from within, so you can be assured that the managers here have done the same work as new employees. In fact, 85% of employees hired before 1998 are still working at Mentor.
We also like to reward your commitment with extra training. At Mentor, we want you to continually expand your knowledge base so we support extra training initiatives by paying 50% to 100% of course fees. Go ahead, get smarter.
Work Hard, Play Hard

Mentor understands the need for balancing work and life commitments. To that end, Mentor believes in flexibility and has no rigid guidelines for the work day.
While everyone at Mentor works hard, we also know how to have fun. Every winter the owners host an extended weekend at Fernie for all employees and their families. Skiing, snowboarding and dinner are all on the house. A few months later we do it all over again at Mentor's summer weekend, but we trade in our skis and snowboards for whitewater rafting, golfing, and a staff barbeque.
Knowing how to have fun is an important quality we look for in every prospective Mentorian. We make sure everyone working here hones this skill by organizing various team-building events throughout the year, TGIF parties, Halloween celebrations, and a Christmas party that's actually fun.
Is the Corporate Suit not your style? Don't worry, it's not ours either. The dress code around Mentor is "business comfortable." Of course, if you want to wear a suit and tie, you can - but we won't make you.

Mentor Engineering is positioned in a rapidly expanding growth industry, which is a good thing for job security. Our employees get to apply their skills and influence how technology is used in various fleet-based industries worldwide. Innovation is key. If you thrive on boring, vanilla work, then Mentor Engineering isn't the place. But, if dynamic, challenge-filled and stimulating work is more your speed, talk to us.
Micromanaging Not Allowed

There are many different management styles in the corporate world. At Mentor, we encourage an open door policy, based on mutual respect, honesty and integrity.
Managers at Mentor Engineering are charged with being accountable for their team members. They work closely with their staff to promote excellence and develop employee potential so staff can realize their career goals. This is true for every department at Mentor Engineering.
Managers hold regular meetings with their teams to encourage an open exchange of ideas and gain feedback. All employees are expected to contribute in a meaningful way. The company has little in the way of internal politics, and eliminates the over-competitive need to jostle for position and corner offices (there aren't any).
The management at Mentor not only supports your career objectives, but looks out for you as an individual as well. Our managers make the effort to understand you as a person, and work with employees who struggle with outside commitments and family agendas. The company puts family first, and will find a way to help its employees reduce stress and strain of daily life.
